Church Sponsored Walk. October 2016
Having had some rather miserable weather during the preceding days, we were both relived and delighted to have the very best weather for our walk. Clear crisp sunshine and the first colours of autumn had the Lake District looking at its very best. A happy band from across the Parish and beyond set off along the old railway track north of Keswick. Having witnessed the devastation of last year’s flood we were soon climbing through the tree line and onto the slopes of Latrigg. A picnic lunch stop gave us magnificent views across most of the Lake District summits as well as the lakes of Derwent Water and Bassenthwaite. It was not long after that we were at the very top with a great sense of achievement.
A very sincere “Thank You” to all those who came on the walk as well as to those who were kind enough to support us through sponsorship. However, I would like to pay tribute to Geff, who not only came on the walk, but was able to shake the money out of so many pockets. Your efforts and those of you who supported him, made a considerable difference to the total amount raised which was over £500.
