Cumwhitton Parish Walk
Each year we have had the very best of weather and this year was no different. After a pleasurable boat trip around the northern shores of Derwent Water, we set off on our walk below Cat Bells. The autumn colours were at their best with far reaching views across Skiddaw and the northern fells. After a hearty picnic we made our way to “The Chinese Bridge” which opened up the views to the Borrowdale Valley and Castle Crag. A week of rain the previous week helped to make the Ladore Falls look their very best. The final leg of our journey saw us back on the boat to Keswick.
This year there was an extra challenge. Jim, a former resident of Cumwhitton set up a photographic competition. The entries were many and varied and all of the highest quality making judging all the more difficult. The final winner was Charlie Egerton and his photograph looking across the boats on Derwent Water to the fells behind. The photograph sums up the landscape and the colours we enjoyed on the day.
