Welcoming our new Parish Priest Edward Johnsen
A priest now for 16 years, I have been Team Vicar for Hayton, Talkin and Farlam parishes for nearly 8 years, during which time our 3 children have grown to be 16, 15 and 10 years old.
My wife Alison works part time as a physio in Carlisle. With my colleague Elizabeth Gough retiring earlier this year, I now take on the three parishes of Cumwhitton, Cumrew and Castle Carrock. I am very much looking forward to getting to know the communities in and around these beautiful villages.
My main pastime is playing the fiddle in a Ceilidh band from time to time. Before coming up north in 2006, I was in Birmingham for 20 years, ministering in the inner city for half that time. But, I was brought up in a village in Warwickshire, and came to faith as a teenager in a multi-church benefice of six churches – so in one way I seem to have come first circle!
I’m hoping for a good summer and the opportunity, in the midst of all the busyness, to find time to get out and about on my bicycle on the lanes of your parish. If you see me around do come over and say hello!
